A young girl in a pink dress stands behind a wooden fence, with a starry night sky painted in the background. The text 'Look right just catch one' is written at the bottom of the image, and the phrase 'Night for the stars' is at the top.

My paintings combine both realistic and intuitive elements.

It is my goal to record the idea and emotion but not be a slave to literal reproduction. There is no pretense at photo-realism; my painting surface will not allow for that, as it is intentionally bumpy, gouged, and scratched to add to its depth and mystery. It's a back and forth between illusion and reality, the sharp focus of realism balanced by the lack of it.

More and more, I'm incorporating intuitive mark-making, a move toward the spontaneous, child-like source and painting just for the joy of it. Inspired by Robert Henri's belief that "we are not here to do what has already been done," I continue to embrace experimentation, intuition, and discovery within my work.
